European Under-21 Championship Final

Germany 4 England 0
Castro 23
Ozil 48
Wagner 79,84

I was hoping that tonight's post would be celebratory one after England got through the semi final against Sweden on penalties despite throwing away a 3-0 half time lead. But it wasn't to be.

The UEFA Under 21 Tournament has not exactly been enthralling but England, up until that 2nd half fight back by the Swedes, had played pretty well. Suspensions didn't help tonight and after conceding an awful second (after Loach completely messed up Ozil's free-kick shortly after half time) the writing looked on the wall.

England had their moments and probably should have scored but Germany caught them on the break twice in the closing stages to add insult to injury.

A real shame as it has been a long time since England contested a major final at any level and Stuart Pearce had done a great job of managing the side but in the end was hamstrung by the suspensions that the team picked up in the semi.
