2010

I've been trying to write this post in my head for a fortnight and the tone of it has changed a few times as I've tried to fathom where to start.

I've gone back and looked at my 2009 post which was actually really cheery and full of hope for 2010.  2009 was a good year.  It wasn't perfect, but it was one, that for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed.  For the first nine and a half months of 2010 I'd say it had been even better.  I'm not going to go into the why's and the wherefores of 2010's demise but it doesn't end as happily as it began, however, I'm not ruling out 2011 being a good one.

Twitter has its faults and it's changed a lot from a year ago. Less twitter village, more competitive, a lot more feisty, but it is still my favourite social network.  If you want to really upset someone facebook is a much cruder and effective weapon.  Twitter is where you see the division in people's thinking, but it still makes me chuckle and I value so many of the friendships I have on there and in some cases just the quality of some people's tweets (that I can only aspire to).

And of course there was Tweetathon.  Over £7000 raised.  I still can't get my head around that.  Thanks again to everyone that really played their part and kept me going and donated.  That I'm left with mixed emotions about it is a pity I guess, but I suspect, that in a years time we'll be talking about another marathon... maybe.

The site, as in here, is still my pride and joy.  I'm proud that AT started his off the back of it and that lots of you still take the time to read my waffle.  Cheers for that.

JMcG went and got married and the stag and wedding were my year's highlights.  Awesome week, special day.

Two of my other best friends got married too.  Both great days.

Bestival, despite a poor(ish) line up, was a great weekend.

We saw Biffy twice.  Still my band.  Still, musically, everything I need in a rock band.  Folding Stars at Wembley will live with me till I die.

So rather than look back at the crap bits, lets move on and look at 2011.

The Ledgers need to Ledger more.  I miss seeing Cheese at work and I may need to get myself a bit more mobile so that I can see JMcG and AT more often.

Career wise I know that I need to kick on.  A trip to America looks on the cards.  I need to quit smoking for good.  There do need to be a lot of changes, I do need to grow up (a bit) but mostly I'll start 2011 saying thanks to the person who made most of 2010 a special year.  Thank you Louise.  (I realise this is going live before 2011.)  But I'll still be giving 2010 a little kick in the nuts as I wave it goodbye.

Have a great night tonight, whatever you are up to, wish those you love a Happy New Year and I hope that 2011 brings you all the things you want out of life.

Peace out, Gray  x
