Cheer up Stevie G... You're Still somehow free!

So one from 8 isn't guilty. Ummm.. come again?

For those that missed it Steven Gerrard got arrested after a fight broke out in a Southport bar earlier this year and today the court case ended. Gerrard was the only one of those charged with affray to walk away with a not guilty verdict.

I'm a massive Gerrard fan. He's one of my heroes. But I've seen the video footage of him landing two uppercuts (they are very good uppercuts) to the DJ at the bar and even I'd concede that he appears to have got off lightly.

Was this the ultimate case of his mates taking one for the team? Very possibly. Whatever, I hope Stevie G learns some kind of lesson from this. I dunno, maybe 'don't go hitting people' would be the best one. Or 'if you are in a bar in Southport and you don't like the music, go to another bar' like the rest of us would.

Now go do me a favour and win the Premier League to make up for letting me down. Ta and that.

A person is guilty of affray if he uses or threatens unlawful violence towards another and his conduct is such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.

While he undoubtedly punched someone, did anyone else of reasonable firmness fear for their safety?
Should have been charged with assault, but I don't know the details of the case.

  2. Just odd that the rest got found guilty. So there must have been people in the bar of reasonable firmness (insert nob gag) that feared for their safety.

Perhaps his punching wasn't the scary sort.
